After Hiroo, it is the most densely drawn neighbourhood in the series.

ℹ️ Delivery vans pass through the area: to take photos without them in shot, it is best to go before 9:00, and by 10:00 at the latest.

The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity

The hub of the characters' travel in episodes 1, 5, 9 and 13, and the cluster with the most recognised backgrounds in the series. At the etomo/紅が丘北口 exit, to the north, Rintarō walks Kaoruko to the ticket gates in episode 1; on platform 6 she phones her parents in the same episode (the green ‘小野寺アカデミー’ sign copies that of the 東進ハイスクール), and she is still there in episode 5. In front of the おたからや/自由が丘デパート on Megami Avenue, Rintarō heads home after saying goodbye to Kaoruko in episode 1; the shot before his run in the rain in the same episode, also used in the opening sequence, comes from graceoflily, the run itself passes the 大和田ビル, and shortly afterwards he looks for her in front of the アイケイビル. At Stella Jiyūgaoka Kaoruko is harassed by thugs in episode 1. In episode 9 Rintarō stops at the three vending machines of the 自由が丘升本ビル on his way back from Noisette, and his family listens to him confess that he wants to dye his hair blond in the 東急株式会社自由が丘事務所 office. The Tōkyū Tōyoko underpass on すずかけ通り is where he phones Kaoruko in episode 13, and it is also the seventh shot of the opening sequence. The Times自由が丘第11 car park gives two shots of the opening sequence: the sixth, and the first after the title, with Rintarō and the umbrella in front of an acupuncture clinic. Only in the manga, in chapter 37, the 天一自由が丘店 is where Rintarō phones Kaoruko after the confession at the seaside. The cluster also includes HERBE, the Monsoon Cafe, the Funawa Kafe from the memory in episode 9 and the Yamada building. Cesame Jiyūgaoka, which in the anime houses Rintarō's family patisserie, and the Cattleya-dōri × Sunset Alley crossing from the opening sequence have their own page, 170 m to the north.
