Unlike the manga, set in Nerima, the first episode of the 1981 anime explicitly names this street in the dialogue, during the famous chase between Lum and Ataru: Studio Pierrot, which produced the series, was based right here, in the area north of the station.
Kuroko's Basketball
The station appears in the anime's ending sequence: platform 1 is shown in the ED of the first season, and about 140 m away the entrance to the underground bicycle park of the Koganei Shimin Kōryū Center (Honchō 6-14-45) is the short stairway where Kuroko stands frozen, in the same sequence. The production studio was also based in the area, and several of the series' backgrounds come from here.
