Onbashi, a rock bridge 90 m long and 40 m high, is among the three most famous in the world.

The Onbashi natural bridge (雄橋), 90 metres long, 18 wide, 24 thick and 40 metres above the river, is a limestone arch carved by erosion over millennia, a national Natural Monument and cited as one of the three great natural bridges of the world. The gorge runs for about 18 km between the municipalities of Shōbara and Jinsekikōgen, and is a national Place of Scenic Beauty within Hiba-Dōgo-Taishaku Quasi-National Park. The artificial lake of Shinryū-ko has 24 km of shoreline and is 8 km long; a boat travels it in about 40 minutes between sheer rock walls.

Limestone gorge in the central Chūgoku mountains, on the border between Shōbara and Jinsekikōgen. The artificial lake of Shinryū-ko came into being in 1924 with the dam on the Taishaku River.

ℹ️ Boat on Lake Shinryū: 9:00–16:30 (departures every 30 minutes), closed on Wednesdays, 1,500 yen adults / 750 yen children. The trails in the gorge are open to all and free.
