You go in barefoot: in some rooms the water comes up to the knee, even on an adult.
At the entrance you take off your shoes and socks: you walk barefoot through a pool where the water comes up to the knee even on an adult, while projected carp glide under your feet and open into flowers when someone brushes against them. Further on, lying down in a dark room, you watch digital flowers bloom and wither without ever repeating. The museum has occupied a former warehouse in Toyosu since 2018.
teamLab Planets TOKYO is an immersive digital art museum by the collective teamLab (founded in 2001), open since 7 July 2018 in a former warehouse in Toyosu. Its closure, initially planned after a few years, has been postponed several times and is now announced for the end of 2027. The installations (water, flowers, light) react in real time to the presence of visitors, with a computer-generated programme that the museum states never repeats itself in the same way.
ℹ️ Open every day 8:00–22:00 (last entry one hour before); closed on some Thursdays for maintenance (in 2026: 3 September, 1 October, 5 November). Tickets at dynamic prices, not sold on site: adults 3,800 yen, junior high/high school 2,800, children aged 4–12 1,500, under 3s free, people with disabilities 1,900; re-entry after leaving is not allowed. You walk barefoot in water that can wet your clothes: a change of clothes is recommended, towels available for hire.
