Open 8:30–17:00 every day of the year: here they call it ‘the Ameyoko of fish’.
On National Route 402, fourteen fishmongers, souvenir shops and eateries face onto the same street, opposite Teradomari fishing harbour: hence the nickname ‘the Ameyoko of fish’, after Tokyo's famous popular market. Grilled squid and scallops, cooked on the spot, are the most sought-after speciality; on the upper floor of one of the shops you can also have lunch. The free car park has 800 spaces for cars and 15 for coaches.
Teradomari, now a district of Nagaoka after the 2006 municipal merger, has always lived by fishing: the market street lines up fishmongers with the local catch alongside products from all over Japan, on a stretch of National Route 402 overlooking the harbour.
ℹ️ Open every day of the year, 8:30–17:00. Free car park, 800 car spaces + 15 for buses. By bus, about 60 minutes from Nagaoka Station; by car, 30–35 minutes from the nearest expressway interchange.
