A real onsen in the heart of Kabukichō, water brought in every day from Nakaizu, 24h
The sodium-calcium sulphate spring water arrives every morning by tanker from the Nakaizu onsen, ‘神代の湯’, and not from a heated well under the building. Inside there are indoor and outdoor baths, a rock sauna and an electrolysed-water bath, unique in Japan according to the operator. Open 24 hours a day: anyone arriving after midnight pays a higher night rate, and reception strictly enforces the rule of silence in the baths.
Opened on 18 August 2015 in the heart of Kabukichō, Thermae-Yu brings its spring water every day from the Nakaizu onsen, in Izu, instead of heating it from a local well: sodium-calcium sulphate, low mineral content, alkaline, pH 9.0.
ℹ️ Open 24 hours a day. Entry Monday–Thursday 2,900 yen (members) / 3,100 yen; Friday, Saturday, Sunday, public holidays and special days +900 yen; supplement for the night slot (0:00–6:00). Heated rock bath +900 yen. At weekends and on public holidays the sauna fills up in the afternoon and evening; weekday daytime is the quietest time. Several reviews report that the rule of silence in the baths is strictly enforced.
