Opens at six, twenty-four wholesalers, and some stalls close when they sell out.
It is the wholesalers' market, not the souvenir one: a low shed on the port, twenty-four stalls side by side, and the buyers are mostly local people with cool bags. You buy trays of ready-cut sashimi and eat them there, because there is an area with tables. ‘Iyu’ means fish in Okinawan.
Fish market run by the Okinawa fish wholesalers' cooperative, at Tomari Port, which is the prefecture's leading port for tuna landings. It occupies a single building on the quay and mainly serves restaurateurs and residents.
ℹ️ Open from 6:00 to 18:00. Closing days vary from stall to stall. It is easiest to reach by car or by bus, with the Tomari-takahashi bus stop a quarter of an hour's walk away: it is far from the monorail, twenty minutes from Miebashi. A car park is stated to be available.
