The closest beach to Amami Airport: six minutes by car, white sand, coral.
A beach with shallow water, protected by a coral reef, on the Kasari coast of Amami Ōshima. Over the white sand the colour shades from emerald green to cobalt blue as the water gets deeper, an effect locally described as ‘Blue Angel’. A stretch of current offshore calls for caution if you move away from the shore.
A few minutes from Amami Airport, in the municipality of Amami-shi, Kasari district. Note: geographically it belongs to the Amami archipelago, not to ‘mainland’ Kagoshima, but it is still in the same prefecture.
