Two bath halls, one by the sea and one in the bamboo: they swap on alternate days.
There are two bath halls built in opposite ways: one opens onto the Sea of Japan and the sunset, the other is enclosed in a bamboo grove, where you hear only the sound of the canes. You do not choose which: they are swapped between men and women every other day, so which one you get depends on when you arrive. Next door, the shop sells what is grown around here.
A hot-spring bath at the northern tip of the Tango Peninsula, renovated in April 2021. The water is of the hypotonic alkaline simple type. The complex includes a restaurant, accommodation and bungalows, plus the マルシェ shop, with sixty-seven parking spaces.
ℹ️ Open from 11:00 to 21:00, with last admission at 20:30. Closed on Thursdays, and ⚠️ from December to early March it is also closed on Wednesdays in alternate weeks: this constraint is easy to miss, because it is not a fixed weekly one. ⚠️ Access is the deciding factor: no open official source states a bus route to here. It is a place to reach by car or by bicycle. Not far away, at 丹後町久僧20, is the Ukawa tourist office, the northernmost in Kyoto Prefecture, which sells tickets for the bath and states that bicycle hire is planned.
