Town hall until 1994: in the Kawasaki Hall you can try the steps of the Gujo Odori all year round.
Built in 1936 as Hachiman's town hall, in wood with a truss structure (an advanced technique at the time), it remained the municipal office until 1994 and is now a Registered Tangible Cultural Property. It is the reference point for the 郡上おどり, which since 1966 has filled the streets of the centre for more than 30 nights between mid-July and early September, in a different square each evening: the dance, in geta and yukata, is something you join in, and there are no spectators standing still. In the Kawasaki Hall on the upper floor you can practise the steps out of season too.
Former town hall of Hachiman (1936–1994), now a tourist information centre and the reference point for the Gujo Odori.
ℹ️ Open 8:30–17:00. Free admission to the building and the Kawasaki Hall.
