Five trails, 30–150 minutes, among thousand-year-old cedars: the Sennen-sugi, the Kuguri-sugi.
A 270-hectare recreational forest at about 1,000 metres above sea level on Yakushima, with five trails of 30 to 150 minutes that pass landmark cedars such as the Sennen-sugi (thousand-year cedar), the Kuguri-sugi (which you go through by passing underneath it) and the Butsu-sugi (Buddha cedar). There are also stumps of yakusugi felled in the Edo period, evidence of the island's historical logging. About 6 km away, reachable by car, is the Kigen-sugi: 1,230 m above sea level, 19.5 m tall, 8.1 m in circumference, an estimated 3,000 years old; it is the largest yakusugi you can reach by car.
Run together with nearby Shiratani Unsuikyō by the Yakushima forestry consortium (レク森協議会).
