One of Gifu's ‘50 famous waters’: here Takamitsu put away the arrows with which he killed a demon.
From the car park in the Kayu-kawa forest a short path leads to the 観瀑台, the platform from which you view the emerald-green river pool carved into the rock. It is one of the fifty waters officially chosen by Gifu Prefecture for the list ‘岐阜県の名水50選’. The name, ‘the pool where the arrows are put away’, comes from a local legend: here the warrior Fujiwara no Takamitsu is said to have laid down the arrows with which he had just killed a demon.
River pool in the municipality of Gujō, in the locality of Minami (美並町高砂), along a stream in the Kayu-kawa area. It is one of the waters included in the prefectural list of the ‘50 famous waters of Gifu’.
ℹ️ Free, open access. Car park in the Kayu-kawa forest (粥川の森); from there a short path leads to the viewing platform (観瀑台) over the pool.
