A family kiln since the seventeenth century: on Tuesdays you can only go in if you have booked.
On the riverbank you go in through the shop and move on to the gallery without leaving the building, which since 15 July 2017 has brought together sales, exhibition and workshop. The cups are all made of the same local clay, which in firing leaves pinkish spots called hanshi. If you want, you can try the potter's wheel, booking required.
A family kiln active in Uji since the beginning of the seventeenth century, the Keichō era: four hundred years of making cups and utensils for the tea ceremony, not general ceramics. The current space, which brings together shop, gallery and workshop in a single building on the riverbank, opened on 15 July 2017.
ℹ️ ⚠️ On Tuesdays entry is by booking only; if a Tuesday falls on a public holiday, you can go in as normal. ⚠️ The regular opening hours are not stated on either of the two official pages, nor is the price of the pottery lesson: phone 0774-23-2511 or write via the form before counting on it. Access is not stated either: the page only gives a link to the map.
