A 6-minute ropeway ride up to 290 m: the night view here is the best in the prefecture.
The symbol of Tokushima city, Mount Bizan (290 m) is reached in 6 minutes by ropeway from the fifth floor of the Awa Odori Kaikan. At the summit, the Peace Pagoda, built in memory of those who died in the Second World War, stands beside a viewpoint from which you can see the Yoshino River, the city, the Ōnaruto Bridge and, on clear days, Awaji Island as far as Wakayama. From late March to late August the ropeway also stays open in the evening on Fridays and Saturdays, for the view judged the best in the prefecture.
Hill behind central Tokushima, with a public park and hiking trails at the summit as well as the ropeway.
