A defensive moat of Edo Castle: today you can hire boats among the cherry trees.
The moat was created by damming a river during the expansion of Edo Castle: a water defence between two fortified gates, Hanzōmon and Tayasumon. Today you can hire rowing boats there, and in spring the cherry trees along the promenade stay lit until evening.
The western moat of the Imperial Palace, famous for its cherry trees.
