At the top of a meadow at 845 metres, on the outer rim of the Aso caldera, stand nine alignments of boulders placed there by someone: the largest is a pyramid 5.5 metres high and 15.3 in circumference. You pay 300 yen from high school up, below that entry is free, and from up there you can turn round and see the whole horizon.
Grassland at 845 m on the outer rim of the Aso caldera, scattered with nine groups of megaliths arranged by human hands: the ‘mirror stone’ bears carvings that some read as Sumerian characters, and the rocks are so magnetic that they send a compass haywire.
ℹ️ Admission 300 yen from high school up, free up to junior high; 8:30–17:00, free car park. You can only get there by car, about 35 minutes from JR Aso Station along the narrow Mazeno Mystery Road.
