Each cabin has 18 seats and one leaves every 45 seconds, along 4,028 metres of cable.
From Sōunzan Station, where the funicular from Gōra arrives, you board an 18-seat cabin: one leaves every 45 seconds, carrying 1,440 people an hour. The first section runs for more than 1,472 metres to Ōwakudani, suspended above the steaming craters of the volcano; the second, the longer one with over 2,500 metres of cable, descends to Tōgendai on Lake Ashi, with Fuji visible on clear days.
The ropeway links Sōunzan, terminus of the Tozan funicular, with Tōgendai on Lake Ashi, in two sections totalling about 4,028 metres of cable, with an intermediate stop at Ōwakudani. It is part of the Odakyu group's tourist network together with the mountain train, the funicular and the boats on the lake, designed as a single route across the volcanic area of Mount Hakone.
ℹ️ Runs 9:00–17:00 from February to November and 9:00–16:15 in December–January, with cabins every 45 seconds; it may stop for maintenance, bad weather or a volcanic alert at Ōwakudani (no restrictions in force as of September 2026, but it has happened before, and lasted for months). Tickets per section or combined with the mountain train and the boat on Lake Ashi.
