On Miharashi Hill 5.3 million blue nemophila bloom together, in April–May.

On Miharashi Hill, the highest point in Hitachinaka at 58 metres above sea level, visitors walk among 5.3 million blue nemophila sown in rows of 20 centimetres every November. The peak comes between mid-April and early May, when the blue of the flowers blends with the blue of the sky. In autumn the same hill turns red with kokia, rounded shrubs that at the end of summer become the park's second big season.

National park opened on 5 October 1991 on the Hitachinaka coast, on dunes once occupied by an Imperial Army firing range and later by the US occupation forces. It covers 215 hectares in use out of an overall plan of 350, divided into seven areas including gardens, beach, woodland and an amusement park with a Ferris wheel.

ℹ️ Admission 450 yen (over-65s: 210; junior high school and under: free); in the flower seasons (mid-April to early May and mid-October) it rises to 700 yen. Open 9:30–17:00, extended to 18:00 in July–August. Closed every Tuesday (Wednesday if the Tuesday is a public holiday), on 31 December, on 1 January and for a week in early February (from the first Tuesday to the Friday). The park is large: it is worth hiring a bicycle or using the park's train.
