577 metres and about 200 shops, the largest shopping street in Chūgoku-Shikoku.
The street today runs for 577 metres past about 200 shops, the largest shopping district in the Chūgoku-Shikoku region, with an average of about 100,000 passers-by a day; several shops have more than a hundred years of history. At its eastern end it borders the Kinza-gai shōtengai and Namiki-dōri; to the west, the Peace Memorial Park. The LED lighting of the arcade, in place since 2014, changes colour to evoke the city's sports teams: the Carp in baseball, Sanfrecce in football.
A covered shopping street in the heart of Hiroshima, between the Kinza neighbourhood and the Peace Park. The shopping street grew up along the route of the Saigoku Kaidō, the road that ran through the castle town from its founding.
ℹ️ Public street, open at all times; each shop has its own opening hours, generally 10:00–20:00.
