Its Buddha is a National Treasure, and in March it holds one of the three daruma markets.
The temple keeps a statue of Shakyamuni designated a National Treasure, and you can see it from 9:30 to 16:00. Outside, the speciality is Jindaiji soba, which has its own producers' association.
On 3 and 4 March the temple hosts the daruma market (the round dolls on which you paint one eye when you make a wish and the other when it comes true), which the temple counts among the three great ones in Japan: about three hundred stalls inside the grounds.
ℹ️ The National Treasure can be visited 9:30–16:00. ⚠️ On 3 and 4 March there is the daruma market, and the crowds are nothing like the rest of the year: it is the day to seek out or to avoid, not just any day. Chōfu, outside the 23 wards.
