It is in Nagano, but the view is all towards Gunma: the three mountains of Jōshū and Mount Asama.

The viewpoint sits exactly on the border between Nagano and Gunma, but its administrative address places it in Karuizawa, Nagano. From here you can see the three mountains of Jōshū (Akagi, Haruna, Myōgi), the Nikkō range and Mount Asama all at once. The municipality warns of the risk of black bears and recommends bells and visiting in a group.

A viewpoint on the old Usui Pass, the road that for centuries linked Karuizawa (Nagano) with the Gunma side, before the railway opened.

ℹ️ Public viewpoint, always accessible and free. A bear bell and visiting in a group are recommended.

🚉 Naka-Karuizawa · 12 min walk
