Since 2003, statues of Amenouzume and Tajikarao, dancers from the myth, have welcomed visitors.
Opened in 2003 on National Route 218, the Takachiho michi-no-eki (道の駅, a roadside station with a market and restaurant) sells wooden crafts, including kagura masks, and serves local Takachiho beef and dago-jiru, the dumpling soup typical of the area. At the entrance, two statues depict Ame-no-Uzume and Tajikarao, the dancers from the myth that the local kagura re-enacts every evening at the shrine a short distance away.
Roadside station on National Route 218, at the entrance to the town. It is also the practical starting point for the pilgrimage, for parking and information.
ℹ️ The shop and restaurant have opening hours; the forecourt with the statues is in the open air. The official collaboration with the anime (1/11/2024 – 31/3/2025), with themed merchandise and panels, is over: the sculptures remain.
