The path round Lake Senba, three km long, passes at the foot of the statue of Mitsukuni.
A three-kilometre loop, about 45 minutes at a normal pace, goes all the way round Lake Senba at the foot of the Kairakuen promontory. On the west side, in the square known as ‘Lord Mito's’ (黄門像広場), the statue of Tokugawa Mitsukuni, the ‘Mito Kōmon’ of the historical TV series, was erected in March 1984 through a public subscription. The route is recognised as an official health road of Ibaraki Prefecture.
Public park surrounding Lake Senba, in the centre of Mito, administratively separate from Kairakuen but next to it on the same hill.
ℹ️ Footpath always open, free, with toilets along the way, including accessible ones. Suitable for walking, running and, for hire, pedal boats and bicycles on the lake.
