It is one of the hundred beaches chosen by the ministry, and it has no lifeguard: nobody keeps watch.

You walk down from the car park (about two hundred spaces), and in summer the three beach houses on the sand, Asahi-ya, Shirahamaya and Genkai, open their showers and barbecue grills. The water is clear enough to see the bottom. The tourist board's page, usually an invitation, here gives a warning: on the neighbouring beaches, Heino-hama and Oiguchi-kaigan, the currents are dangerous.

A beach on the Itoshima Peninsula, on the western coast of Fukuoka, included in the ministry's selection of the hundred bathing beaches of Japan (快水浴場百選). It lies at the mouth of the same basalt inlet where the sea cave of Keya no Ōto opens.

ℹ️ The beach houses are seasonal and open in summer; out of season only the beach and the car park remain. ⚠️ There is no lifeguard service: you swim at your own risk, and the nearby beaches of Heino-hama and Oiguchi-kaigan are flagged by the same official source as dangerous because of the currents.
