The busiest station in the world according to Guinness, which records 2,704,703 passengers a day for 2022; adding up all the companies and interchanges, Japanese estimates come to around three and a half million. Five operators converge here (JR East, Keiō, Odakyū, Tokyo Metro and Toei) for a dozen lines, thirty-six platforms and more than two hundred exits.
ℹ️ The episode's platform 12 no longer exists under that number: on 18 March 2007, to widen the platforms of the Chūō Rapid Line, all platforms from 11 to 14 were renumbered by adding two. The inner-loop Yamanote Line towards Harajuku and Shibuya, which was 12, is now 14.

In the fifth episode the FBI agent Raye Penber follows Light into the station and boards the Yamanote with him. The platform is the inner-loop Yamanote one, towards Shibuya: at the time it was numbered 12.
