In the pillar there is a hole 30 by 37 cm: the size of one of the Buddha's nostrils.
Inside the hall, a queue of children forms in front of a wooden pillar, because at the bottom it has a hole you can crawl through: thirty centimetres by thirty-seven, the size of a nostril of the statue in front of them. The Great Buddha took about five hundred tonnes of bronze, thirteen kilos of gold donated in 749 by the governor of Mutsu Province, and eight hundred and twenty kilos of mercury for the gilding.
ℹ️ The gate is in the open air and can always be walked through; the Great Buddha Hall, on the other hand, has opening hours and a ticket.
