Taketsuru founded it in 1934 in Yoichi, whose climate reminded him of the Scotland of his student days.
Taketsuru Masataka founded the distillery in 1934, after studying the art of distilling in Scotland and choosing Yoichi for a climate that reminded him of it. In 2022 ten historic buildings on the site (including the founder's house, rebuilt on site) were designated a national Important Cultural Property.
The site was chosen by Taketsuru Masataka for Yoichi's climate, similar to that of Scotland, where he had learned the art of distilling.
ℹ️ The site runs guided tours of the historic facilities.
