Since 1619, three days starting on the first Friday in June: stalls and yukata around the temple.

For the rest of the year it is a neighbourhood temple of the Nichiren Buddhist school, among the houses of Mikawa-chō. For three evenings at the start of June the street in front fills with stalls and people in yukata, the light cotton summer robe: the busiest hour is between seven and eight in the evening, when it is hard to walk without bumping into one another.

圓隆寺 (Enryū-ji) is a temple of the Nichiren school founded in 1619 by Asano Nagaakira, the lord of the Hiroshima domain, in the Mikawa-chō neighbourhood. The temple gives its name to the Tōkasan taisai, held every year for three days starting on the first Friday in June: it is counted among the three great festivals of Hiroshima, together with the Flower Festival and the Minato Yume port fireworks, and for the city it marks the start of summer.

ℹ️ The temple can be visited as a neighbourhood place of worship, with no ticket; none of the official sources read publishes opening hours of its own outside the festival days. The Tōkasan taisai is held every year for three days starting on the first Friday in June: in 2026 from 5 to 7 June, in 2027 from 4 to 6 June (toukasan.jp/schedule/). The temple is about 170 metres from Nagarekawa and a few minutes' walk from Hacchōbori.
