22 works of art scattered across a fishing island, 25 minutes by ferry from Isshiki.
Sakushima, in Mikawa Bay, is home to twenty-two contemporary art installations scattered between the island's two fishing villages, which you can tour with a stamp rally (Art Picnic). The connection is the fast ferry from Isshiki, about 25 minutes, with seven services each way a day: 830 yen one way for an adult, 420 for a child.
The island keeps two settlements, one to the west with blackened-walled houses and a small hall called Benten, one to the east with inns and restaurants; hire bicycles are the usual way to get round it from one artwork to the next.
