The vegetable soba always arrives ‘mountain-high’: the place is at the entrance to the avenue.
At the entrance to the Bise fukugi avenue, in a traditional Ryukyu house (琉球古民家), a small soba place serves vegetable dishes that arrive ‘mountain-high’ (people who know it warn you to be ready before ordering). A buffalo-drawn cart passes in front of the place while you wait for your order, part of the rides the village offers tourists. It is a different kind of break from the contemplative stroll along the avenue: here you sit down and eat, a few steps from the centuries-old trees.
Okinawa soba (沖縄そば) restaurant in a traditional Ryukyu house, in the village of Bise, on the Motobu Peninsula, at 備瀬388-3, where the fukugi avenue begins. It is one of the few places to eat in the village; the menu has three kinds of soba (about 800 yen each) and the speciality is the dish of stir-fried vegetables in a generous portion.
ℹ️ ⚠️ Opening hours conflict across four sources, not reconciled: suba.okinawa.jp gives 9:00–18:00; the iitoko-okinawa.jp portal gives 11:00–18:00; two blogs by people who went (ameblo.jp, okinawashiawase.com) instead describe a practical opening time around 11:30, with one customer who could not get in outside that window; three sources out of four converge on an opening around 11, not 9. Irregular closing days (不定休), no fixed day stated. Indicative price 800–1,000 yen per dish (iitoko-okinawa.jp). Two different phone numbers in two listings (suba.okinawa.jp: 0980-48-2265; iitoko-okinawa.jp: 0980-43-5001), not reconciled: neither is given in this entry, so as not to pick one at random. To be checked on site.
