Amanohashidate Winery

天橋立ワイナリー

Open on the mapwith over 1,800 wonders of Japan

A red drawn two days after fermentation starts: it is sold only here.

Behind a glass pane you can see the German fermentation tanks and the line that fills the bottles; if you book, you also go down into the cellar. But the reason to come all the way up here is in the glass: the フェダーロータ is a still red drawn between the second and the fifth day of fermentation, when it still has two or three per cent alcohol and its own carbon dioxide inside. It does not leave the winery, and the bottles are limited.

A winery on the hill overlooking Miyazu Bay. It makes its wine with German-made fermentation equipment and bottles it on site. Its distinctive product is *federroter*, a red wine stopped a few days after fermentation begins.

ℹ️ Open from 10:00 to 17:00, free car park. The descent into the cellar must be booked. ⚠️ Closed on Wednesdays, and ⚠️ without a car it is twenty minutes by bus there and twenty back from Amanohashidate Station: forty minutes on public transport for a short stop. If you do not drive, weigh up whether the stop is worth the journey.
