- Hirosaki Castle (弘前公園) The 1810 tenshu was recorded as a ‘turret’, never a ‘castle’, so as not to offend the shogunate.

- Oirase Gorge (Ishigedo) Born of the breach in Towada's bank: 14 km of trail past about ten waterfalls.

- Shōwa Daibutsu — Seiryū-ji 21.35 metres of bronze, 220 tonnes: the largest seated Buddha in Japan, since 1984.
- Sukayu Onsen In 1954 it was Japan's first ‘国民保養温泉地’: the spring had been discovered in 1684.
